The Power of Being You

The internet, a place in which social media exists and people create platforms. But wait, not all platform sizes are the same! While some people have millions, thousands and some merely hundreds of followers we get mislead with the idea that your followers portray how popular and ideal you are within society.

While many of the famous influencers get lip injections, veneers and other beauty enhancing treatments the regular person isn’t able to afford any of that. (no hate, if you have money do you boo!) We get caught up with the idea, women and men must fit an ideal body type and look a certain way to portray a perfect person. Stop! Stop letting images of others shape your mentality and who you want to be!

We are all unique, the human species consists of billions of people and no two are alike. (except twins but even then personalities differ) We were made unique because we weren’t meant to fit a specific physique. You are beautiful. Your curves, stretch marks, wrinkles, and imperfections are all beautiful. They are what make you, you and no one can take that from you.

Wanting to reach an “ideal” is a negative concept in which we do anything to portray a perfect person. Now don’t get me wrong, wanting to reach “perfection” is negative but bettering yourself by working out or doing makeup is completely acceptable as long as you understand perfection is a false ideal. Perfection is unattainable but beauty is not because we are all beautiful. Remember who you are and remember the power you hold in simply being YOU!

  1. Social media has destroyed our perception of how we must look and defines certain aspect expectations. I’m glad you talked about that, thanks for sharing!
